The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Wow. There's a lot of fresh snow here in Hakuba. To say the least! Here's the headlines from the resorts: Happo-one: 50cm (Usagidaira); 80cm (Kurobishi) Hakuba 47: 40-80cm Hakuba Goryu: 20-60cm Hakuba Cortina: 40-50cm Tsugaike Kogen busting through (or to) the 3m snow depth mark. Happo-one adding 50cm to the upper slopes snow depth. 80cm up at Hakuba 47! You could almost say that's... bottomless! ;) Didn't quite see that coming. I don't think anyone will have any problems finding some deep powder conditions to play in today. Just be careful! It does look like Goryu have been 'dealing' with the snow on the upper slopes and so opening later than planned but apart from that there doesn't seem to be any disruption and thankfully there isn't enough wind to cause any issues with lifts. It's not even really that cold this morning. Snow clouds forecast to ease later today and then we might get to see some sun tomorrow. Fantastic. We didn't get to see much of the sun at all yesterday in the end, but this morning the sun is out and while there's lots of cloud around still it looks set to be a fine day here in Hakuba. It's keeping very cold though which should keep the snow conditions good out there. Talking of snow, a mixed report this morning. While Goryu reported 0-10cm and Hakuba 47 reported 5-10cm, Hakuba Cortina to the north in Otari has been reporting 20-50cm this morning. Some difference that! Based on those numbers, Cortina sounds like a good choice though I'm sure it will be good wherever this morning. At the time of writing, the Gondola, Line C and Line E lifts at Hakuba 47 are not operating due to windy conditions on the mountain. Down here in the village there isn't much of a wind. Lots of cloud around this morning - more than there was yesterday - and it is snowing - though generally visibility seems to have improved in the last hour or so since very grey and foggy like start to the day in most areas. Didn't last long though and then I found out how cold it was this morning. -10C said the thermometer when I got up! It's a warmer -7 degrees now, so yes it's a cold start to the day in Hakuba. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . And it's a good morning from Hakuba. After a grey and cloudy day yesterday, it was snowing by nighta time and this morning we have a good new layer of snow to report. 20-25cm at Goryu; 35-38cm at 47; 12cm at Happo; 20-30cm at Cortina. So differing amounts being reported but all of them coming in with fresh so it should be a very good morning on the slopes. Variable but about 10-15cm here at village base I'd say. It doesn't feel quite as cold here at base either this morning though temperatures higher up on the mountain remain down to minus double digits. Fairly calm though and while it is not snowing while I write this it looks like snow is falling at higher elevations. Generally poor visibility on mountain as well this morning. Looks like a total foggy white-out on Happo at the moment! So snow forecast for the day today and perhaps into tomorrow. Followed by clearer conditions and milder conditions at the end of the week, hopefully followed by snow on Saturday. There's a chance of a bit of rain before the snow though, we can just hope that bit doesn't happen. That's what the latest forecast has for us anyway. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Nice day yesterday, mostly cloudy but bright with some blue sky from time to time. Snow came in the evening and this morning we have a few cm at base and up to 30cm being recorded by Cortina this morning. Take Cortina out of the equation though and it's more like 5-10cm on the resorts around the village. Goryu and 47 both reporting that number for their upper slopes. Quite strong winds on the mountain this morning with top lifts at Goryu with the Panorama and Grand Prix courses closed. At Happo the Kurobishi Number 3 pair and Skyline Number 2 pair lifts are also not moving due to wind conditions. As far as I can tell other areas are all operating as normal. There's an ou-yuki (heavy snow) warning out right at the moment for Hakuba, but for the moment while it is snowing it isn't doing so that heavily and just cloud on the forecast for this afternoon, so not quite sure what to make of that. Perhaps later this morning. Cloudy weather currently forecast for tomorrow and then some heavy snowfall around Tuesday which might bring us some large numbers. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Clouds started to move in yesterday afternoon and snow was falling on the mountains as darkness arrived. Overnight we have nothing more than a dusting at base and up to 5cm on upper slopes. This morning snow is falling and visibility is very poor on all but the lower base slopes of the resorts. Can't see much of anything out there. The forecast tells us it should get better this afternoon though and we'll probably have a clear night. Start of another weekend tomorrow of course and it looks like it should start off cloudy/sun. We're looking at snow overnight into Sunday though so if that forecast is right the pick of the weekend for fresh would be Sunday. Doesn't always work like that of course...! The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Morning from Hakuba on this middle day of the long weekend. Snowfall on and off yesterday on the mountains and it was snowing when I last looked outside yesterday night. This morning just a few cm of snow being reported by the resorts and nothing much to report here at base either so it didn't seemingly amount to much. Up to 5cm being reported. It's a cloudy/overcast morning but with some small patches of blue sky and the sun peeking through in places. Perhaps it might clear up as the morning moves on today. It should be snowing by the end of the day though. There's hardly any wind about at the moment and it has been keeping cold, a low of about -9 overnight, but we might see temps rise just above zero today before that snow comes. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . A very good morning to you from Hakuba and I have good news with some nice amounts of snow to report overnight. By dark it was snowing and seems to have been busy though the night. The largest number coming from Goryu and 47 who are reporting up to 40cm on their upper slopes, more like 10cm at base and that's about what we have in the village. Other resorts are on average around 20-30cm. Snow conditions this morning should be excellent. This morning it's snowing still, heavily on places on the mountain, just light here earlier on but around town there are some signs that we might see some brighter conditions and it does look like if anything it might clear up some. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . The mountains remained shrouded in cloud for the day yesterday and it was snowing during nighta last night. This morning though perhaps less than I was expecting. This morning Cortina wins the most new snow contest, reporting 25-30cm of fresh while others around Hakuba are reporting 1-7cm as noted in the list below. A lovely sunrise this morning but there's lots of cloud around even though some local forecasts tell us now that today should be sunny. The sun does seem to be trying and may well break through. I'm happy to report it was a cold night down to minus 8 degrees and today it might rise to around zero down at village level. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . It's either an early or late report today as there's some work being done on the site, so early it is mainly because it's simple. Very cold overnight in Hakuba, down to around -13 in village apparently, but temps going to race up to about +5 today at base. Might even get warmer still tomorrow. The warmth is not a good thing but there are mostly clear skies over the valley this morning and so it's all looking very beautiful. Too early for updates of the data below, that will continue from tomorrow. Hakuba Goryu: Reporting 0cm at Iimori. Upper - 285cm Toomi - 180cm Iimori - 150cm Hakuba 47: Reporting 0cm of new snowfall overnight. 3cm during the day yesterday. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good news and not as good news. Which do you want first? Let's go with the good news. A return to winter! It's a very cold morning in Hakuba. -8C at the moment and not looking likely to get much warmer during the day. We also have new snowfall to report. Not much down here in the village - up to 5cm or so in places - but Goryu is reporting up to 20cm which Hakuba Cortina has the most reported with 40cm of fresh. Nice. The less good news is that it's also some strong winds this morning, and that is affecting some lift operations at resorts around the valley . At the time of writing here is the lifts I can see as being affected (and not moving), but of course this is subject to change depending on the conditions: The Gondola at Hakuba 47. Skyline Number 2 pair at Happo-one. Cortina are saying that due to avalanche danger, the Number 4 and 5 pair lifts are closed. Best to check before getting a ticket as the NNE winds are due to continue for the day. OK so the snow doesn't look like it is going to continue today leaving us with mostly just cloudy weather. Cloud and cold is what is forecast tomorrow as well but importantly it is going to keep colder which is good to hear. Later on Friday and through the weekend we are expecting snow to be falling. Hopefully lots of it. We want/need more. Hakuba Goryu: Reporting 3cm of new snowfall on Toomi and Iimori, 20cm up top.
