The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good news this morning. It is snowing at a moderate rate and there has been 4cm accumulation overnight. The snowflakes are very fine so there is not as much build up on the ground as would be expected for the rate of precipitation. The snowfall should continue throughout today. Temperatures are back to winter and it sure feels cold outside compared to the tropical blip that we have just experienced. The slopes are still hard under the layer of fresh. The groomed areas are skiing pretty nicely, but the ungroomed areas are very rough underfoot and Premium Zone is closed for today. Wind is present but is light. Strong winds are expect from Wednesday afternoon onwards. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 17cm Snowfall at base this season 667cm Posted on Thursday 18th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The heavy snow that was on the forecast has arrived and the village area has received a whopping 17cm overnight. Needless to say we are looking at a serious powder morning on the mountain, and with 17cm in the village the depth on the resort itself is going to be much much more. It is still snowing heavily but the precipitation rate will lighten up as the day progresses. There is low cloud on the resort, and combined with the snow falling , means that visibility is not perfect, but still pretty good. There is no detectable breeze in the village right at the moment. Tomorrow, temperatures are going to be warmer and around the base may even just break into the positives during the day. It looks like the sun will be out during the first part of the day. On Saturday night there is another significant fall of snow predicted. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 669cm Posted on Friday 19th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Looks like another great day on the resort. The morning lows were below zero, but mild, and have already risen into positive territory which is evidenced by the dripping water running off roofs and the roads being particularly slippery with a bit of melt on top of the snow. There is high cloud cover over Furano, but it is well above the ski resort and visibility is good with just a little flat light in places. There has been a nice little top up of 2cm fresh snow, which will ski nicely during the morning but be a bit heavier than usual due to the warmer temperatures. There is no breeze around the village. Tomorrow morning should be sunny and there will be no snow tomorrow until evening, when a major snow storm is due to drop a significant snow on the resort. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 8cm Snowfall at base this season 706cm Posted on Tuesday 23rd February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Waking up this morning and looking out of the window my thoughts were, it is still snowing. Furano has had such a good run of snow this season and there has been only the odd day since January when we haven't had snow. Today's fresh snow amounts to another 8cm, and it is very light and dry. There is a light breeze blowing around the village which is likely to be a tad stronger at elevation. The snow fall is coming down moderately and snow is forecast for the rest of the day. Actually it is forecast to snow continuously for the rest of the week. Temperatures should be a lot colder though from tomorrow onwards. Conditions are cloudy with some of the cloud rolling down the tops. This combined with the moderate snow coming down means visibility is not perfect, but still pretty good with just a bit of low light in places. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 711cm Posted on Thursday 25th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Those wintery temperatures are still with us and this morning and -17c was recorded at the top of the resort. There is not really anything to report in the way of fresh snow as only 1cm was recorded in the village. Perhaps there will be a bit more on the mountain, but nothing to get excited about today. There is plenty of blue showing through the partially cloudy skies. Like yesterday the blue will likely disappear during the morning leaving overcast skies. Visibility is excellent this morning. For the rest of the week it is expected similarly chilly temperatures will persist with continuous light snow. The heaviest falls of snow are predicted for tonight and Friday night. Fingers crossed for a decent top up.
