There is some cloud hanging around the tops but is it starting to lift and looks like it will be another fine blue sky day. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 4cm Snowfall at base this season 307cm Weather overview Cloud Wind Calm Temperature - Visibility Good Posted at 12:26am on Saturday 12th January 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . A few centimeters of fresh snow fell overnight, but on the whole it's been a quiet Saturday morning. The cloud cover is thick and heavy, and although they look like it could snow at any second, for the moment they are quiet. The forecast for the day is mostly cloudy skies throughout the evening and into tomorrow, where we will see another chance for snow. I wouldn't be surprised if a few more snow showers made their way through the area throughout the day, but it doesn't look like we will be seeing any significant, new accumulations. It's currently a mild -7, and with the occasional break in the clouds, today is shaping up to be a fine one for skiing. • Furano Now: Saturday 26th January 2013

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 13cm Snowfall at base this season 354cm Weather overview Cloudy, light snow at times Wind Moderate+ Temperature - Visibility OK Posted at 5:40pm on Saturday 26th January 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . A rather large weather system moving through the area yesterday and through the night left us with about 10-15cm of fresh snow. A southerly storm, it brought with it warmer temperatures and plenty of big, fat snowflakes, meaning the freshies to be had today were a bit heavier than usual. By noon, most of the new snow on the well-traveled runs had been eaten through, but there was plenty of powder to be found along the sides and on the less-frequented courses. The weather was great for most of the day, with partly cloudy skies, mild temperatures, and little wind. The snow started to fall again towards the end of day-skiing, so for those of you out there this evening, there should be a little something to look forward to in the way of fresh powder. We had a high of -5 day, unseasonably mild and a welcome break from the all the cold we've been seeing this year. Sunday should see a return to colder temperatures and cloudy skies, with a small chance for snow showers throughout the day, but nothing too major in the way of snow accumulations is to be expected. It's cooled down now to around -10, and temperatures should bottom out in the minus mid-teens, so be sure to bundle up out there! The good news is the winds should be light to non-existent, so tonight might be a good evening to get a few runs in after an early dinner. Furano Now 2012-2013 season Data as of Saturday 26th January 2012 Total snowfall at base so far 354cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 49 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 20cm (6th January) November 2012 snowfall 69cm reported on 10 days December 2012 snowfall 162cm reported on 21 days January 2013 snowfall 123cm reported on 18 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Furano. Strong winds whipped up in the early hours of the morning so there will be much deeper stashes on the mountain itself. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Today is a little bit of a change from the clear days that we have been having recently. Last night brought some snow but not quite as much as we were hoping for and accumulation in the village is only 2cm. However, this will provide a nice top up to the base and on the mountain itself accumulation will be significantly more than 2cm. The day is overcast with clouds rolling down over the tops. There is some flat light particularly on the upper mountain but overall visibility is reasonable and should be an issue. Currently there are light winds around the base area and these will pick up in exposed areas on the mountain.
