The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . To make for a change I have no new snowfall to report this morning from Madarao Kogen. This morning we have mostly blue skies above Madarao with just a bit of cloud here and there. It's basically just a lovely calm and bright morning. We're going to see a warming up pattern over the next few days. We might get to see some worryingly warm temperatures especially around Friday when we may also get some rain. The good out of all this is that just after that a new cold front is chugging along making it's way here and should hopefully be bringing us snow and colder temperatures in time for opening on Saturday. I'm not a park kind of guy but it seems the resort has a new item in their Free Ride Park - 'Side in 5m down rail'. That make sense to anyone? Doesn't mean much to me but that's what it is apparently. If park is your thing, go check it out and let me know! The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Yesterday really warmed up. Too much for my liking, I had to take a few layers off. The mild conditions are going to continue today and tomorrow. It's an almost spring like morning in Madarao. Lots of cloud hovering around the upper part of the mountain, but sun shining down and lots of blue sky above. That cloud is actually quickly moving on in the last 10 minutes or so. Warmer still tomorrow (!) but hopefully we'll be on the receiving end of some fresh snow before lifts open on Saturday. In a bit of resort news, the Tangram Number 2 lift will be closing after Sunday 3rd March. Seems rather early. But anyway, from the 4th the good folk using Madarao will be able to access Powder Wave II, Powder Line and Powder Theater via the (always exciting) Number 13 single lift and Adventure. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Welcome to the weekend. And I'm glad that yesterday is behind us that really turned out to be a not particularly good day! It was windy, it was warm, it was wet and rainy, lifts had to be closed because of the conditions. Just not a good day all round really. This morning the story is much better. We even have some fresh snowfall, perhaps 5-10cm or so at base area and the resort saying there's up to 15cm on the slopes. That is good. It might not be enough to completely cover what will be a hardened icy base, but it sure is better than us waking up to nothing new at all. The wind might have blown it around as well so more in places. Due care needed. Light snow forecast for the day (though there's even a few breaks in the cloud at the mo), perhaps less so tomorrow and then clearer on Monday. So says the local forecast. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Wild winds yesterday and a cancelled fireworks display after nighta. I think people were probably glad to get in an onsen yesterday after the conditions out there. The snow was really coming down in style for a while there yesterday evening, quickly adding up to 15cm or so. A bit more to report this morning and the resort itself if saying that there has been an additional 15-25cm. Snow not falling at the moment and just cloudy. The tree runs should be great today. There's also a free to enter 'Speed Challenge' event going on today which sounds like fun. Clear conditions forecast for tomorrow and a return to more early spring like weather conditions due this coming week. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning from Madarao. And happily it is keeping fairly cold. It did get warmer during the day yesterday but a cold night and a cold morning again. No new snow to report and lots of blue sky above the mountain. Quite a few clouds hanging around the region for the most part a fine clear and bright morning. Let's hope it doesn't warm up too much. From tomorrow though a real warming up still seems inevitable. Windy too though for the moment it doesn't look like the wind will affect the lifts. Always the change though depending on how this changes during the morning. So yes a warm morning. And it's looking like rain is very likely today. But, should be snow by tomorrow morning. Hoping for the best for my report tomorrow morning! For now, just cloudy. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . I'm writing this report in Nagano, after driving here from Madarao about 2 hours ago. So here's how things were when I left: It's a whopping +10C this morning as spring really take a hold on proceedings now. Don't think I need to mention that there's no new snow! What there is is clear skies above Madarao and a strong wind. Lots of cloud nearby, but at the moment here it's clear and the sun is out. Strong winds are not strong enough to affect the lifts on the mountain, so all open as normal. So yes, spring conditions. Some forecasts had us down for rain/snow today (?!) but that's not happening now. Perhaps things are going to change... It does actually seem that temps are going to drop quickly later on today and into tomorrow.
