The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning from Madarao and what a great start to the weekend. Fresh snow (20cm being reported by the resort, 18cm measured by me) on the ground and a mix of blue sky, sun and cloud at the time of writing. Excellent. It's perhaps not the driest of peak season snow quality, but we are approaching mid-March! (I feel bad even kind of mentioning that). ;) That's about it really. Should be a great morning and tomorrow fine weather is forecast again. AND... there's snow on them there forecasts mid week. Madarao Kogen plans to be open until Sunday 2nd April. Yes, that March snow has come again, just when a lot of people have left the country (and the Japanese start getting distracted by the cherry blossoms starting to come up from the south and west. It's not spring yet!). A good fall overnight of pretty wet snow, we have to say, but it's going to be good up there. It's hard to believe we're really in the last three weeks for the ski areas... • Nozawa Now: Saturday 11th March 2017

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 16cm Snowfall at base this season 775cm Posted on Saturday 11th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello from Nozawa on this Saturday morning. And it's a good start to the weekend. Up to 10cm of snowfall on mountain yesterday morning and some more overnight gives us 10-30cm across the mountain since my report yesterday and I am measuring 16cm here near base. It means that there's a good refresh from base up to top and there should be lots of fresh snow to play in especially at higher elevations this morning. It's keeping pretty cold up there too which is all good. As you might notice from the images below, as of 9am it's a mix of conditions. Poor visibility and light snow still falling up top, and some clearing clouds and sunshine lower down. The forecast is for clearer weather so I expect things to go that way during the day today - with sunny clear skies expected from early morning tomorrow. Snow is forecast in the coming week too, so another refresh is on the way. Less people around too now that we are approaching March. Perhaps they don't know what they are missing! The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning to you all from here in Hakuba. Fabulous day on the slopes yesterday with that good layer of fresh snow to play in, and I am hearing some excited reports from people going backcountry... talk of up to 60cm out there. Very nice! This morning just a bit more snow being reported from mostly upper resort areas, just a bit outside here. Still conditions should remain very nice for the start of the weekend and while there is still quite a bit of cloud around there's an increasing amount of blue sky and the sun is out. Less cloud as the morning goes on I reckon and it is going to be a fine day and importantly not like it is going to warm up too much. More fine sunny weather is on the forecast for tomorrow though it will be getting a bit warmer. Just check out the forecast too... some good potential around mid-week. There is a fair amount of cloud around and some snow still falling, however, in some parts of the sky blue skies and sunshine are showing through. As of yesterday, we have another 7cm of snow so there should be some powder to be smashed during the morning. For this coming week, we are expecting snow most days with mostly clear weather on Sunday. There is, unfortunately, some rain forecast for Monday, however, this should become snow later on in the night so don't worry! At the moment it seems that Wednesday will experience the best snow so get those powder planks ready. Destructive! We're expecting clearer skies over the region at the weekend, so we'd like as much snow falling from the skies as possible today. Come on! Hard to believe that come Sunday we have just three weeks left in the snow season here at Madarao. How can time go so quickly. When you're having so much fun, I suppose. It's not fair though! The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . The official snow report from Niigata has regained our trust and support today. It predicted 15cm, and as of earlier this morning there was 13cm and still falling (so I'm going to say 15cm, just to acknowledge them). It is nice snow, too: fluffy big flakes falling very nicely. Just got a radio call from the top of the mountain, where it sounds even better. Probably want to keep an eye out for sluffing if the snow continues to fall at a heavy rate. So longer untouched time! If you are lucky with your timing, you can really hit the spot with a March visit. Of course, it's easy for a local to say that (I'm not bragging, honest!) :) Enjoy yourselves and take care. Expecting clearer skies over the weekend. Our daily reports are not posted on behalf of ski areas or any other business or organisation. Since first going online in 1999, the integrity of this website has always been our top priority, and it is something we are not prepared to compromise. All content is carefully created and written by humans who share a passion for the subject and what SnowJapan stands for. About SnowJapan.com About the daily reporting on SnowJapan.com
