- Hakuba Now: Thursday 20th December 2018
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 64cm Posted on Thursday 20th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba, and a good one it is. Cloudy for the moment (with even a bit of sun trying to break through in places), but more importantly.. snow news! Lots of fresh snowfall to report this morning. And as always, I bring to you the amounts of fresh snowfall being reported by the resorts around Hakuba and here they are: Hakuba Happo-one: 40cm (top of Gondola) Hakuba Goryu: 10cm (base), 20cm (top) Hakuba 47: 15cm (base), 30cm (top) Hakuba Cortina: 15cm (base-top) Hakuba Iwatake: 5cm (Village Side), 20cm (Mountain Side) Top prize to Happo! There's a good 15cm on the ground for me to add to my measurements as well. So conditions out there should be pretty good this morning and I expect (and hope) that we might gradually be seeing more lifts and terrain get open too. Looks like Happo-one have opened up Kurobishi from this morning and the official site shows nothing yet moving at Tsugaike for some reason (wind?). Hakuba 47 are now also declaring themselves 'all courses open' Hakuba Iwatake have announced that they will open from tomorrow (Friday). They plan to have the North and East areas open with the Number 3 and 4 line lifts operating. Hakuba Sanosaka were hoping to open from tomorrow but they seem to have delayed that, waiting for more snow. ----- Hakuba Happo-one Operating lifts: - Adam Gondola - Riesen quad Available courses: - Usagidaira - Kurobisho - Panorama - Riesen Slalom course Official snow depth: - Kurobishi: -cm - Usagidaira: 110cm - Lower: 10cm (?) ----- Hakuba Goryu Operating lifts: - Gondola - Alps Number 1 pair - Toomi Sky Four quad lift - Toomi Number 1 pair lift Available courses: - Panorama - Toomi Official snow depth: - Top: 85cm - Toomi: 50cm - Iimori: -cm ----- Hakuba 47 Operating lifts: - Gondola - Line AB - Line C - Line E Available courses: - All courses now available, top to base skiing possible Official snow depth: - Top: 120cm - Base: 35cm ----- Tsugaike Kogen Operating lifts: - Eve Gondola - Han-no-ki high speed lift Available courses: - Han-kou Official snow depth: - Tsuga-no-mori: 116cm - Han-no-ki: 116cm - Maruyama: -cm - Shirakaba: -cm - Champion: -cm - Oya-no-hara: -cm - Kane-no-naru-oka: -cm ----- Hakuba Cortina Operating lifts: - Number 2 quad lift - Number 4 pair lift Available courses: - Ikenota - Hieda Forest - Mt Hieda 1 - Itadaira Official snow depth: - Top: 125cm - Base: 75cm ----- Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Operating lifts: - Gondola --- but it's for sightseeing, not skiing/boarding Official snow depth: - Top: 15cm - Base: 15cm ----- Hakuba Norikura Onsen Operating lifts: - Alps Number 1 pair - Alps Number 4 pair Official snow depth: - 100cm ----- Hakuba Valley Kashimayari Operating lifts: - Number 2 pair lift - Number 6 quad lift (for transportation) Available courses: - Course 2 Official snow depth: - 55cm ----- Hakuba Sanosaka - Delayed opening Hakuba Now 2018-2019 season Data as of Thursday 20th December 2018 Total snowfall at base so far 64cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 7 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 15cm (20th December) November 2018 snowfall 0cm December 2018 snowfall 64cm reported on 7 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 55cm Snowfall at base this season 211cm Posted on Wednesday 19th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Furano has been hit with a major snow front that started yesterday. Total snowfall in the village is a whopping 55cm. This is exactly what was needed as until now we have been struggling a bit. This will be enough to get the Kitanomine Zone fully open from a snow coverage perspective. We will have to wait for an announcement from the resort to see exactly when that will be. It has stopped snowing but there may be some further light snowfall during the day. It feels pretty mild at -3c here in the village, and the warmer weather will be with us for the next couple of days. The snow in the village continued to melt and the roads went to slush. Temperatures have dipped down below freezing again and today looks to be a swing back to winter, There is 3cm of new snow and we will get a lot more during the day. Out on the mountain it is snowing moderately with low cloud. Visibility is limited so caution is required, as there are quite a few bumps and dips on the slopes that won't be easy to spot. Some sun was shining through yesterday but overnight the snow clouds have come back and delivered us with around 10cm of fresh snow (the resort is reporting 10-20cm mountain wide). It is still snowing now and looks like there's rather limited visibility on the mountain. More opening too with the Schneider and Challenge courses now available so there's a lot of terrain open and we're doing pretty good... though a few more decent dumps of snow would be most welcome. (Aren't they always?!) Independent snow and weather reporting from the Madarao region of Nagano New snowfall at base 18cm Snowfall at base this season 121cm Weather overview Cloud and blue sky Wind Light Temperature - Visibility Very good Posted on Tuesday 18th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning Madarao fans! I bring good news. There's a nice fresh layer of snow on the ground this morning. 18cm of it. Nice. (Especially after the milder day yesterday which didn't do the snow any favours). And for the moment the clouds are breaking up and there's some sunshine and blue skies appearing. A fine morning to be out on the mountain. Forecasts still show a warm up for later in the week which is a bit of a worry; once we get past that some more decent snow for Christmas? I'm going to go and enjoy the morning.
