Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 220cm

Posted on Thursday 20th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Temperatures are colder this morning and you can sure feel that when you step outside. There were some moderate winds gusts earlier this morning. Conditions are calmer now but I would expect some wind around the top of the resort. It is partly cloudy but possible some sun may get through the breaks in the clouds. The upper mountain is shrouded in cloud. Overnight there has been a further 9cm of new snow. All eyes are on Kitanomine as to when the Gondola will operate...there has been no official word from the resort on this yet and I suspect it won't be today. Hopefully the front face of the Kitanomine quad chair will be opened as there certainly is more than enough snow coverage now.
