  • Nozawa Now: Tuesday 5th March 2019

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 800cm Posted on Tuesday 5th March 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Well, with a rather wet day yesterday I wasn't thinking I'd have much good news to report this morning. But! The resort is actually reporting up to 15cm of fresh snow on the top Yamabiko area and 3cm on the Hikage and Nagasaka lower areas. So that is a nice surprise and I am being somewhat kind awarding a cm for the report this morning. Bit of goodwill going on there. ;) This morning early on visibility looks very limited on those top areas, but the forecast shows a good chance of sun so it will probably clear up. More snow there on the forecast for around Thursday too. Fresh snowfall reported by the ski resort (since yesterday morning): - Yamabiko (1407m): 15cm - Uenotaira (1230m): 12cm - Hikage (660m): 3cm - Nagasaka (615m): 3cm - Karasawa (563m): -cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by resort): - Yamabiko (1407m): 275cm - Uenotaira (1230m): 240cm - Hikage (660m): 140cm - Nagasaka (615m): 130cm - Karasawa (563m): 85cm All lifts apart from the following should be operating: - Yunomine pair - Mizunashi triple - Challenge pair - Utopia pair - Kandahar All courses should be open apart from the following: - Grand Prix - Kandahar Nozawa Now 2018-2019 season Data as of Tuesday 5th March 2019 Total snowfall at base 800cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 51 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 48cm (9th January) November 2018 snowfall 2cm reported on 1 day December 2018 snowfall 202cm reported on 13 days January 2019 snowfall 425cm reported on 24 days February 2019 snowfall 170cm reported on 12 days March 2019 snowfall 1cm reported on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen.
