The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Morning. Some fresh snow since my last report but not a whole lot. I am logging 2cm, Kumanoyu are reporting 5cm. So while we do not have huge amounts of snow yet, more of Shiga Kogen is opening for the weekend - including parts of Yakebitaiyama and Yokoteyama, and expanded areas of Kumanoyu I'm looking at the forecast and for the moment it seems to be showing more sun than snow over the next week; along with some milder conditions early in the week. So we can't realistically expect much more fresh snow support until at least later in the coming week. The important thing now - before more snow comes - is for things to keep cold so we can enjoy what we have. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Hello and good morning from Madarao. So, it's Saturday and we are now officially less than one week away from the planned opening date of Madarao; and a week further away from the planned opening date of the connecting Tangram. Since my last report a few days ago we have had some more snowfall in the region yesterday, recorded in this report. The last update from the resort itself yesterday morning was reporting 5cm of snow depth on the mountain and the third image below is from yesterday. I'd say there's surely a bit more than that - there was on the top of my car - but it's not what anyone could call deep yet. (I would hope not anyway!) No further fresh overnight last night. I'd love to be able to report some heavy snow forecast before next weekend, but currently it is looking somewhat unlikely. Perhaps we might get a bit tonight but from Monday we are forecast a spell of clearer skies with lots of sunshine, and temperatures getting on the milder side once again. Is that snow I see on the forecast for late week...? Other ski resorts in the region that were planning on opening on the 23rd November have been delayed - nearby Nozawa Onsen isn't open yet, but there is some ski lifts moving at Shiga Kogen and also at Ryuoo Ski Park. A few ski resorts are also open in Hakuba. It's not the most exciting start to the season, but it is still very (very) early of course and things can and often do change very quickly with a decent dumpage of fresh snow. No need to worry. I will post another report in the coming week with a further update. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Geto. 7cm more fresh snow to report from base since my last report. It was snowing for much of the day yesterday and early morning it is still snowing but lightly. Nothing significant. Less of a wind this morning too which is good for the start of the weekend. The forecast for the day today is cloudy with the chance of light snow; cloudy skies due tomorrow after some likely snowfall tonight. Sounds good to me! As far as I can tell, today A1-A5 should be open. Tree run courses are not yet open. The snow on the open courses is pretty good quality though so fun to be had. For the moment just the Gondola lift is operating. There's more lifts and courses open at Niseko Grand Hirafu (* some for exterts only), Annupuri have their Jumbo Number 1 quad moving and... oh, so much information to take in. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello from Nozawa Onsen. It's good to see another fresh blanket of white snow down to base this morning. There's around 5cm of it down to the lower base areas, probably a bit more than that on the upper slopes but there's no official report to relay to you on that score. They are reporting a snow depth of 10-15cm on Yamabiko and Uenotaira. That isn't enough to be able to open up those top slopes yet though, unfortunately. Fingers crossed we get more cm accumulating today and then some later Saturday into Sunday... It is a cold morning and the snow is nice and light. I would expect more to be opening for the weekend. All I can confirm right at the moment is that Kumanoyu are planning on being open to summit from tomorrow. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here A very good morning to you all from Hirafu. I have more good news this morning after snow heavy snow overnight. I measured an additional 21cm of beautiful light fresh snow on the ground around my secret base lair. It was great to see Niseko Grand Hirafu opening up yesterday and more opening up on the mountain including the Annupuri Gondola. So the upper Utopia course area is open at that resort, but like at Hirafu you can't ride the snow back down to base; rather, you need to get the lift back down. Full details on what should be open this morning have been updated below. There's 9 lifts operating in total this morning. I would guess that there is a decent chance of more opening for the weekend. It is very cold out there but there's already a lot of fun to be had and the snow will probably be easing off for the day. Once I post this and have a quality toast top-up, I think I might make my own debut for the season... I can't wait any longer! ----- Danger!! The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . UPDATE Excellent news this afternoon - some ski lifts will be moving from tomorrow morning. This is what I can confirm this afternoon at the time of writing: Hakuba Happo-one will be open from 8:30am. The Gondola, Kokusai Number 3 pair lift and Panorama pair lifts will be operating, with the Panorama course area open. They are reporting 60cm of snowfall. Hakuba 47 will open upper area from 10:00am. Line E, Route 8 open. Access via Hakuba Goryu gondola... Hakuba Goryu will also be open from 8:15am, with the top area of the resort open. No confirmation of anything yet from Tsugaike. I will bring you as many details as I can tomorrow morning - the report might be a bit later as information is gathered.... ORIGINAL MORNING REPORT Good morning from Hakuba. Some snow on (and off sometimes down to base) during the day yesterday and more overnight. Hakuba Happo-one appears to be reporting a snow depth of 55-60cm on the upper areas of the resort and 5cm down at base Nakiyama... as well as 5-30cm (base to top) of fresh snow. The only other number I can see from resorts just at the moment is 5cm on the upper slopes from Hakuba 47. That seem rather different from the Happo-one numbers, but I think we can take it that there's been a nice layer of snow on the mountain. There's some snow on the ground around base too - about 4-5cm of it. And of course that observed number is the one that I record and report to you every morning. Hopefully there will be more to report tomorrow. Once more snow falls and ski resorts get to open bit by bit, whenever that is there'll be a flurry of news. I'll try to keep up with it! The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Snow coverage has really improved on the ski area in the last couple of days. The official base depth is now 115cm and the slopes are in prime condition for this time of the season. The only thing missing is that we need to see more of the courses open up. This morning there has been a further 9cm of snow in the Kitanomine village. It is still snowing lightly and heavier falls are on the forecast for the afternoon. Not quite as cold as yesterday, it is -8c now and will only get slightly warmer (-6c) during the day.
