For those of us 'living' here, it needs to be moved, shovelled and all sorts of other things. We need to do that before we can ride it. Hard up aren't we? ;) So yes. Loads of snow overnight. Conditions should be excellent on the slopes this morning and it might even be clearing a bit. Whatever eventually happens today, clearer skies are forecast for tomorrow and generally for the rest of the week as well. Won't be as cold, but shouldn't warm up too much either. Sounds good to me! On Saturday 17th, it's time for the Powder Wave Session at Madarao Kogen where you can see some top riders (what the resort says and I have no reason to doubt it!) perform for our entertainment. Powder Wave course will be closed from Tuesday 13th so that they can prepare for the event. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . 10-15cm of new snowfall over the last 24 hours here in Madarao and this morning we have cloud and blue skies over the mountain. More snow is forecast for later on in the day though and overnight into tomorrow but after that from around Tuesday the forecast is for clear skies, sun and things getting a little milder. Doesn't look like it should warm up too much though. All set to open as normal. Remember tomorrow is a holiday so should be busier than a normal Monday. I usually Like Mondays, but perhaps less so tomorrow! But I'm sure it'll be a Happy Monday for lots. Have fun. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Just a light cover of snow this morning amounting to a cm or two so not much. But, it's snowing now and it's very cold. I haven't been out yet but conditions should be mighty good for the weekend. Snow forecast to be falling through until Monday, or at least never be far off, and for those of you wanting some clearer sunny skies look to Tuesday onwards for a few days of such conditions. Just 5cm or so of fresh since yesterday to report this morning and once again this morning there's a thick bank of cloud over the top half of the mountain with clearer conditions lower down. Interesting scene actually. So no snow falling right now, it's just... cloudy. Still should be a good morning and I reckon there's a decent chance of it clearing further. We're forecast to be enjoying more fresh supplies of snow over the weekend. It should remain cold so come prepared for that. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . The top of the mountain is covered in a grey cloud at the moment, but nothing is falling out of it! It's just cloudy for now. And there's around 10cm of new snow joining the party this morning. It's nice and cold and the snow is in good condition. Not much forecast for today other than cloud and possible snow showers, but nothing major. Tomorrow is more of the same by the looks, and we might even get a bit of sunshine. Next up snow worth mentioning should be over the weekend. Remember it's the fire festival here on Saturday so hopefully the weather will co-operate for that. We couldn't escape the rain yesterday unfortunately, but happily it fairly quickly turned into snowfall and this morning theses a nice (up to) 20cm or so of white fluff on top to freshen things up out on the mountain. Much colder as well which is most welcome after the mild conditions we had yesterday. And less wind too. Forecast isn't for heavy snow continuing more like the snow easing off again and a mix of weather conditions over the next few days. The important thing being that it should be remaining cold through the week. Event alert! Friday 10th January, if you are in Madarao look out for the Fire Festival at Madarao. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Resort reporting 5-10cm of fresh snow on the slopes of the mountain this morning, just a few cm where I am here. Lots of cloud around this morning (fog too over the upper mountain areas?) and it's a cold start to the day. Kind of not what we were told to expect for this morning as per report yesterday, but there you go. Maybe we are going to see those clearer sunny conditions later on today. It should be getting warmer too, today and tomorrow, before dipping again around Wednesday along with fresh snow clouds moving in around that time. Not as many people around now as we return to normal after the new year. Next weekend is a long weekend though with Monday as a holiday - and another peak of the season. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Trying to avoid obviously hype-like adjectives but really what more could we want than yet another 40+cm of snowfall. The resort this morning is clocking in another 40-50cm and once again yes that's pretty much how much I need to be clearing off once again this morning. Not complaining! It's keeping suitably cold. What more can I say. Top conditions for those lucky enough to be here. Lots of cloud but even a small break in them just before with some sun - clouded over again now. The forecast though is for clearing rather than continued snow and I think we'll get more sun than snow over the next few days and it shouldn't be as cold either. Quite busy as you might expect, though I would guess that tomorrow will be less so with people heading back to reality after their new year hols. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Ho Ho Ho! Oh, sorry wrong holiday.... Merry New Year! And yes it's surely a merry one. Even those nursing some heavy heads this morning will look out of the window and love the sight of all the fresh snow that has fallen since last night. Sadly the resort had to cancel some of the events it had planned last night including the fireworks due to the weather conditions. Wind, almost no visibility and heavy snow aren't the best conditions for a firework display! That aside, it's obviously great that we have started the year with this snowfall. It's cold out there this morning so an extra layer or two needed compared with the last few days. Get wrapped up though and it should be deep conditions on the slopes. That's what we like. Last report I said it was a snowy Madarao Kogen. Well, it's a much snowier Madarao this morning, the resort posting a photo of outside the base center and reporting 70cm of snow, over half of that since yesterday afternoon. Oh yes, things are progressing well. This will form a good base which hopefully will stick around and be built on gradually in the run up to opening a week on Friday. Forecast for the coming week is less snowy. Maybe sunny even. The next cold and snowy front is due next weekend. Looking promising over the next week though with snow forecast for most (all?) days. This weekend we expect decent snow and then mid-week. We should be all set for next week.
