The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Greetings from Naeba, Today kicks off with an excellent start as we clear away the light, fluffy snow from our cars in the morning. So far, we've accumulated a delightful 32cm at the bottom. The forecast promises continuous snowfall throughout the day, ensuring fresh powder for all. Expect the upper parts to be shrouded in clouds, leading to decreasing visibility. However, at lower elevations, the conditions remain fair. It's shaping up to be a day filled with soft, pristine snow. Happy skiing! Sun is due tomorrow, to be followed by more snow on Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully there might be enough snow by mid-week for the whole mountain to open... Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 9cm Snowfall at base this season 67cm Posted on Monday 1st January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Happy New Year! The snowfall overnight at Naeba was... a bit underwhelming, with less than 10cm of wet snow at the base. Currently, there's a light dusting coming from cloudy skies, but visibility at the bottom remains limited. Unfortunately, the snow quality isn't meeting expectations. Keep an eye out for updates when conditions improve! Wind is also preventing the Dragondola and Daishamen lift from operating this morning. Sun is expected tomorrow with the next snow due into Thursday. ------------------------------------ Welcome back, Naeba Now It is always great to add new content to SnowJapan, so after an unavoidable pause for three seasons, we are very pleased to be able to restart the Naeba Now reports for the 2023-2024 season. The plan is to once again bring you daily snow and weather reports from our reporter based in Naeba. The ski area opened on 21st December and is still only partially open as of 1st January. Due to these reports starting beyond the opening date, snowfall at the base until the present has been posted as back-dated reports (as best we can). While that early season circumstance is less than ideal, it is our effort to cover the entire season. Hopefully, January will bring some good snowfall, allowing the ski area to open fully. Anyway, welcome back 'Naeba Now' as we hand it over to our Naeba reporter. Please note that there may be a bit of 'settling in' as we get this up and running.... ------------------------- Official snow depth: Summit: 40cm Base: 20cm Scheduled lift operations: Prince Number 2 Gondola Takenokodaira romance pair lift Number 4 romance pair lift Number 4 high speed lift Number 5 high speed lift (scheduled to be open for night skiing until 8:30pm) Daishamen pair lift [* on hold at time of report due to wind] Dragondola [* on hold at time of report due to wind] Courses planned to be open: - 6 of 24 courses are open - You can ski/board back down from Takenokodaira back to base Naeba Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Monday 1st January 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 67cm Number of days snowfall observed 4 days Most snowfall observed on 1 day 50cm (23rd December) * total over the days before 23rd December 2023 snowfall 58cm observed on 3 days January 2024 snowfall 9cm observed on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Naeba. - Naeba Now: Sunday 5th April 2020
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 430cm Posted on Sunday 5th April 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba. So here we are. It is Sunday 5th April 2020 and the last day of the 2019-2020 season at Naeba. We are ending the season with the Prince Number 2 Gondola and upper Takenokodaira pair lift operating this morning. You can still slide back down to base on a narrow course back, or choose to get the gondola back down. ------------------------- What a season it has been. No-one could claim that it has been a classic, but it certainly has been memorable/eventful/challenging. Naeba has done well dealing with less snow than usual and then with the troubling coronavirus situation. There was also the World Cup event in the middle of it all - the first day happened but they had to cancel the second day due to weather conditions. So a big thank you to all of the staff and everyone involved in keeping things going through it all. They all deserve a period of rest and recharge. We might not have enjoyed the amount of snow that we usually expect, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been some great days. There has. And I personally am going to try and remember those. If you came to Naeba I hope that you were able to come when conditions were good and enjoyed your time here. Let us hope that for the 2020-2021 season we can get back to something more like 'normal'. Thank you for reading. Take care. And bai-bai. --- PS: The Dragondola plans to be operating for the spring sightseeing season from 25th April until 31st May. Looks like the Dragondola and top lift are on hold at the moment due to wind. The resort remains open to the public of course, but restrictions apply.
