That's all I have for you this morning. We are into the last two weeks of the season now; and that's up to the planned closing date. Official snow depth on Yamabiko stands at 55cm (as of update yesterday). Let's see how long this can continue! If there is going to be an early closing, we can probably expect to hear about it at least a few days in advance. No such words as of now. ---------------------------- Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 55cm [yesterday update] Uenotaira: 30cm Lower areas: now closed and no longer reporting Available courses: Yamabiko A-E Kokenashi A-B Uenotaira Scheduled lift operations for the spring season: Nagasaka gondola (from 8:10am) Yamabiko Four lift Yamabiko Number 2 Four lift Uenotaira quad lift Planned closing date (subject to change): Wednesday 6th May Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Thursday 23rd April 2026 Total snowfall at base 733cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 52 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 438cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 126cm reported on 12 days March 2026 snowfall 20cm reported on 6 days April 2026 snowfall 0cm reported on 0 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. The Paradise course and Uenotaira snow park are now both closed, leaving us with 'the extended top bit'*. It's still a fair amount of terrain, one of the fine features of our beloved mountain, and snow cover on is Yamabiko still holding up. Though very much spring conditions everywhere now, of course. Official snow depth still on 55cm. (* I'll say 'the top bit' when we're down to just the Yamabiko courses). ---------------------------- Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 55cm Uenotaira: 30cm Lower areas: now closed and no longer reporting Available courses: Yamabiko A-E Kokenashi A-B Uenotaira Scheduled lift operations for the spring season: Nagasaka gondola (from 8:10am) Yamabiko Four lift Yamabiko Number 2 Four lift Uenotaira quad lift Planned closing date (subject to change): Wednesday 6th May Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Monday 20th April 2026 Total snowfall at base 733cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 52 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 438cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 126cm reported on 12 days March 2026 snowfall 20cm reported on 6 days April 2026 snowfall 0cm reported on 0 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 733cm Posted on Friday 17th April 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here. Good morning from Nozawa. The sun is out and it's a fine (and kind of hazy) spring morning across the region. The Paradise course is planned to be available for the weekend, but it seems like it might not make it, or be very limited. The ski area is apparently trying to keep it open but making a point about the quickly retreating snow, so keep this in mind. Whether it opens at the weekend or not, that run will not be open beyond the weekend. The top Yamabiko area still remains pretty good in terms of cover, though only 55cm as the official snow depth. Fine and warm weather expected over the weekend, though tomorrow might feature more cloud than Sunday. ---------------------------- Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 55cm Uenotaira: 30cm Lower areas: now closed and no longer reporting Available courses: Yamabiko A-E Kokenashi A-B Uenotaira Scheduled lift operations for the spring season: Nagasaka gondola (from 8:10am) Yamabiko Four lift Yamabiko Number 2 Four lift Uenotaira quad lift Skyline connecting pair (* operating on weekends & holidays only) Paradise quad lift (* operating on weekends & holidays only) Planned closing date (subject to change): Wednesday 6th May Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Friday 17th April 2026 Total snowfall at base 733cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 52 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 438cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 126cm reported on 12 days March 2026 snowfall 20cm reported on 6 days April 2026 snowfall 0cm reported on 0 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 878cm Good morning from Niseko. Fine clear skies this morning and it is nice and bright. But quite windy too. The clear skies might not last as we have rain forecast for tonight and overnight into early tomorrow morning. The windy conditions might continue at least tomorrow, before easing off around Sunday. There is a chance that lifts might get to be affected over today and tomorrow, but both Hirafu and Annupuri appear to be opening as planned at the start of the day. Oh yes, Annupuri is down to two lifts now -- the gondola and Jumbo Number 1 quad. As long as the ski areas remain open as planned, 5 more reports to go! - Niseko Now: Monday 27th April 2026
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 878cm Greetings from Niseko. I was woken at just before 5:30am this morning by a bit of a wobble; a fairly strong earthquake in the central-southern (is that a word) region of Hokkaido. Nothing major here but I always feel I'm super sensitive to these things. It was a bit rude. But seriously, I hope people were not affected over there (though no doubt nerves were ruffled). Earthquakes are one of those reminders of how life can literally change; suddenly, in an instant. OK so it's a fair morning here with some light blue skies and a hazy looking over towards Mt Yotei. It is forecast to be a warm day and it does indeed feel very mild this morning. Already over 10C.
