Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 807cm
Posted on Wednesday 15th February 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
We had mostly calm and fine weather yesterday with snow coming in later on.
And as a result of that there's 12cm of fresh snow on the ground to report.
Kagura are reporting 5-10cm of fresh snow and Maiko Snow Resort reporting 10-15cm. So there is an extra layer of snow on the courses waiting everyone this morning.
We have had some mixed weather conditions already today. The sun was out a bit before, but the snow clouds are moving back in from the north as of 8:30am and snow has started falling in places. It is due to ease off sometime during the day.
I am just looking at one local weather forecast that says tomorrow it will be fine and sunny - with temperatures rising to as high as 10C. We can do without that!
Happily, it does not look like that warmth should last that long with temperatures dropping again on Friday with more snow due as we enter the weekend.
