The latest Furano Now report can be found here . God morgon skid- och snowboardåkare, Shout out to our Swedish fans. Not much change from yesterday, frankly. Nice and cold. A wee burning of the fingers going on. A whisk of snow. Cloudy with the clouds being trapped by the resort mountains dropping visibility down. The snow is great. People who've never been here don't believe it, but when it's only a few centimeters like today, you can literally blow it off your car windows. You want light and fwuffy powder? We've got the lightest and the fwuffiest. No hype here. Just statement of fact. Forecast calls for several days of "light snow showers." Better than nothing, I suppose, and adds to the base, but not the El Dumpo that I'm waiting for. Now that we've turned in January, that shouldn't be too far off. Tänk snö. • Furano Now: Tuesday 31st December 2024

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 10cm Snowfall at base this season 210cm Posted on Tuesday 31st December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Happy New Year's Eve Skiers and Snowboarders, Things are looking great today. Only 10 cm so far, but there is a "Heavy Snow Advisory" in effect for the whole day today. Such wonderful words. Of course, in weather man context, "heavy snow" means lots of snow, which is good; not crappy heavy snow, which is bad. More importantly, my fine tuned local Spidey-sense says it's gonna be a fair amount of snow. It's just coming down in a normal Furano-winter sort of way. Not tentative. Just snowing. And snowing... Gondola closed this morning due to wind. It may open this afternoon. Night skiing is available on both sides of the resort every night until 7:30 every night through January 5th. On to fireworks! The New Prince Hotel puts on an awesome fireworks show every New Year's Eve, beginning at the stroke of midnight. The fun and festivities begin at 10:00 PM near the base of the Ropeway in the Furano Zone. See flying lanterns, color torch ski parade, and my favorite, snowcat rides (10:30-11:00 only. Line up early.). Keep thinking snow. Gondola Closed due to wind. May open in afternoon. All other lifts open except, of course, Kitanomine magic carpet. Furano Now 2024-2025 season Data as of Tuesday 31st December 2024 Total snowfall at base 210cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 27 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 20cm (1st December) November 2024 snowfall 37cm reported on 6 days December 2024 snowfall 173cm reported on 21 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Furano. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good morning skiers and snowboarders, Happy New Year's Eve-Eve (aka the day before New Year's Eve). Looking good, Houston. Definitely looking good. It snowed most of the day yesterday, and it's been snowing quite steadily for the last several hours, and it's definitely light and fwuffy. Given all that, I'm a bit surprised the snow reading for today is only 11 cm. Feels like more. "Heavy snow" forecast all day tomorrow. Such wonderful words. Lots of people at the resort today. The New Year's crowd has definitely arrived. I had to park in the employees lot this morning! Far. Waaa-waa. Should be lots of fun out there today. Visibility is lowish, no views for sure, but a very acceptable 500 meters. I'll take that. Fireworks lovers should go to the base of the Furano side (New Furano Prince Hotel) by midnight TOMORROW night for a real kicker of a show to bring in the new year.
