The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It was a quite warm day yesterday and overnight too, not dipping much below 10 degrees. It will be a little warmer today with a high of around 18 degrees. The main thing about today though is the rain. Actually eased off now but it was raining earlier and forecast to rain for the day as well, and some stronger winds later as well. In fact, it seems that Gala Yuzawa is closed for the day due to those winds. So for today the choice is just the two Ropeway stations at Kagura. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It's keeping fairly cold out and there's still some of that snow that fell in places around town today. I am hearing some very positive reports from people who went up to Kagura over the weekend. Apparently there was quite a bit more than the original 10cm that was reported. Some people saying as much as 30cm of fresh in places, though I'm not sure if they were just getting a bit carried away there! The resort came back and said 20cm. They were delighted to have timed it right to get some fresh snow conditions and by all accounts it was really good up there --- certainly considering it's the second half of April. That's what we like to hear! Some rain earlier on this morning, but it at lunchtime now the sun is out and there is more blue sky on show as well as a fair bit of cloud hanging on. It is about 9 degrees now in Yuzawa. Tomorrow is going to warm up a fair bit with a high temperature of around 17 degrees forecast for the town areas, so that should get rid of the remaining snow on the lower slopes. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Well, when they said there was a chance of snow overnight into Sunday, we were sceptical. Especially when it was raining in the evening yesterday, though it was fairly cold still. But the forecast was right! There is still a few cm of snow outside here down at town level as I post this just before noon. Yes, snow down to town. Kagura resort this morning were reporting 10cm of fresh snow. Quite cold too this morning as you'd expect. It's a bit wet at the moment with sleet falling on and off and indeed it might well turn into rain this afternoon. With sun due tomorrow, I wouldn't expect this snow to last for long. Still, great to see snow here at such a late day. I think it's a good bet that this will be the last of the season, at town level at least. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . The day has started with rain this morning, it's a wet one. I hear possibly sleet higher up, but here in town... rain. Hopefully it will clear up this morning though leaving us with just cloudy conditions. Not as warm this morning and a moderate wind. Cloud forecast for tomorrow as well, and temperatures will rise to around 10 degrees in town. Weekend tomorrow and so Kandatsu Kogen will be opening up once again for Saturday and Sunday. Today has started off sunny, though the forecast is telling us to expect clouds to move in as we get into the afternoon and the day might well end up being quite dull. It only dipped down to around +8 degrees overnight and as of 9am it is already about 15 degrees. A high of 19 or 20 is forecast for the day, so it feels warm. Even though the snow has all but gone from the valley and lower mountain areas, there's still a lot up on the open places at Kagura and Gala. Kagura still reporting over 3m of snow. Conditions are as you would expect them to be at this stage. Another Monday morning and actually this Monday morning marks the first day when all of the snow has completely melted away from the rice fields behind SnowJapan World Headquarters here in Minamiuonuma. Yesterday really helped with that - it was a really warm day with the temperature according to the thermometer reaching 21 degrees here in the valley. It got cold early on this morning and today isn't as warm with a temperature as of noon at 12 degrees. Lots of cloud today but bright and breaks in those clouds. Tomorrow the sun is due and it will probably get warmer once again.
