The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good morning Skiers & Boarders, Another nice chunk of snow overnight, and of decent quality. I'm excited that it was a number different than 7 or 11! Yeah! If we could only have 12 cm or more every day, I'm sure many of the world's problems could be solved. Tomorrow is the Children's Snow Festival at the base of the Furano Zone, near the Prince Hotel Bakery. There are several fun events for kids 12 & under, from 1-2:00 PM. The kids will win some prizes, guaranteed. Free, free, free. Now for the bad news. Tomorrow's weather report looks positively dismal: High of +5 C(!), with r@!n in the afternoon. It will be down to -12 C tonight, so if you want to ski tomorrow, make it in the morning, and be ready to duck out if the r@!n materializes. Heavy sigh. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . We may lose a little snowpack on a sunny day, but it is worth it. Long-time readers know that I really prefer days when it’s snowing hard, you’ve got your goggles and helmet on and you can feel the snow getting softer under your feet (and it keeps the posers off the hill). But it is nice to actually be able to see the mountain.... It is beautiful in Myoko (and I am biased) and we do like to showcase the area (and many people never see anything, thanks to the heavy snow, and a pretty good serving of fog as well.) Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 7cm Snowfall at base this season 417cm Posted on Friday 14th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good Day Skiers & Boarders, It's snowing nicely again today, so that officially makes it a Good Day. We had 7 cm overnight. If you check the reports from this season, you'd see we've had a lot of 7 & 11 cm days, almost as if 7-11 has cut a marketing deal with 'ol Mother Nature. Just because it sounds crazy doesn't mean it's not true! Anyway, the last few days have helped to replenish the high traffic shaved off spots, so we don't have to worry about scratching our Precious on pebbles and such. The official word is "Ongoing Heavy Snow Advisory." Such comforting words. Keep it coming, baby! As it is now mid-February, we have moved out of the "official" peak powder season (generally regarded as Jan to mid-Feb), but that doesn't mean the snow will stop. Far from it. It's just usually less predictable, but since this year hasn't conformed to the norm, I wouldn't be surprised if the late season throws us some curve balls. Think snow. * Furano Zone Lift B (aka Furano Quad) is closed for the season due to mechanical failure. New braking mechanism must be fabricated.** Furano Zone: All except Lift B.
