  • Naeba Now: Monday 27th March 2017

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 1120cm Posted on Monday 27th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba everybody. Today we have a lot of fresh powder on the ground. 15cm to be precise with even more higher up. The snow also looks as though it is going to carry on for the rest of the day so conditions should be pretty soft all day. As the end of the season is rapidly approaching lift operation is dramatically reduced in Naeba. Night skiing will no longer run and neither will the Dragondola so if you want to head over to Kagura you will have to catch the bus! This snow is meant to continue until Tuesday afternoon with Wednesday expected to be clear weather. We are then expecting a little rain on Thursday before it turns back into snow all the way through until Saturday. Yay! Lifts running today are: -Beginner lift No.4 08:00-17:00 -High-Speed lift No.5 08:30-17:00 -Prince Gondola No.2 08:30-16:00 (last ride up 15:30) -Takenokodaira Romance Lift 08:45-15:45 -High-Speed Lift No.3 08:00-17:00 Naeba Now 2016-2017 season Data as of Monday 27th March 2017 Total snowfall at base so far 1120cm Number of days snowfall observed 77 days Most snowfall observed on 1 day 80cm (15th January) November 2016 snowfall 17cm observed on 4 days December 2016 snowfall 150cm observed on 14 days January 2017 snowfall 550cm observed on 23 days February 2017 snowfall 280cm observed on 19 days March 2017 snowfall 123cm observed on 17 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Naeba. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good news everybody! As of around 1300 yesterday we have received almost non stop snow. Over night this has built up to a total of 19cm. Conditions are fairly fierce out there with fairly strong wind and low visibility due to fog. Caution is definitely advised today as although we have a fair amount of snow on the ground we don't really have all that much base in certain places. The areas which do have a good amount of base are all clearly marked with poles. Looking at the weather forecast things generally look pretty good.
