Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 38cm

Posted on Tuesday 24th December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Naeba.

Fresh snow on the ground today I am happy to report. Less than 10cm at base, the resort itself is reporting 10-15cm.

For the moment the lifts and courses open remain the same.

Forecasts show the light-moderate snow that is currently falling easing off during the day and then sunshine for tomorrow but good signs of potentially significant snowfall on Friday. Yes.....

If that happens, expect more lifts and courses open for the weekend.

Official snow depth:

- 30cm

Planned operating lifts:

- Prince Number 2 Gondola

- Takenokodaira pair lift

- Number 4 romance pair lift

- Number 5 high speed lift

Courses planned to be open:

- The Lower base course area between Number 4 and 5 lifts is open (artificial snow) - 900m in length

- The upper Takenokodaira course is open (you need to get the Gondola back down to base) - 400m in length

- Sledding area open at the top Takenokodaira area

- Other courses will open up as soon as there is enough snow
