- Yuzawa Now: Friday 23rd February 2024
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this seas 517cm Posted on Friday 23rd February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Just a little more snow from the snow that continued mostly yesterday morning and another bit of a dusting overnight (enough to just about justify 2cm). Kagura ski area reports 1cm since yesterday (overnight) and Maiko is going with 10cm. It is snowing lightly now, but it's not the kind that will pile up. Again, you will probably find more fresh the higher you go. From today, the top lift at Kagura (Number 5 pair) and BC gate is open until 1pm. Forecasts look promising for more 'winter' around Monday. ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 120cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 80cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Iwappara Official snow depth: 75cm Night skiing until 8:00pm The lower area is closed Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 130cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 100cm Night skiing until 2:00am tomorrow morning Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 130cm (top), 40cm (lower) Night skiing until 8:00pm Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 40cm (base) Naeba Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 50cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 80cm Night skiing from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 30cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 90cm Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 80cm Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Friday 23rd February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 517cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 35 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 60cm reported on 9 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Through yesterday there was light snow falling, especially in higher areas, though it really didn't result in much sticking on the ground. This morning Kagura is reporting 2cm of fresh snow and Maiko doesn't seem to be reporting any new cm. (At our measuring point a total of just under 2cm since the report yesterday morning). It's a cloudy start to the day but it may clear up later on. Currently around -1C in town. Popular ski areas were very busy yesterday, and we can expect more of that today. ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 130cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 70cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Iwappara Official snow depth: 75cm Night skiing until 8:00pm The lower area is closed Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 130cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 105cm Night skiing until 2:00am tomorrow morning Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 120cm (top), 40cm (lower) Night skiing until 8:00pm Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 40cm (base) Naeba Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 50cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 90cm Night skiing from 6:00pm until 7:30pm Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 30cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 90cm Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 80cm Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Saturday 24th February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 519cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 36 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 62cm reported on 10 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this seas 534cm Posted on Tuesday 27th February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. There's pleasing news to report this morning with a very welcome fresh layer of snow everywhere. Our town measurement is 15cm, all of which came overnight. Maiko Snow resort is reporting 20-30cm which sounds really good. Right now it is cloudy, quite windy, with light snow falling. A bit to the north there is some breaks in the cloud and blue sky, but snow is forecast through the day today. Kagura is closed this morning due to wind/weather. There is some disruption at Naeba too, and Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway is not opening. Other ski areas appear to be opening as planned. It's curious how, as we approach March, some forecasts are looking more winter-y than they have looked for large parts of winter. If that means we get more fresh snow over the coming week, we're all for it! ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 130cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 80cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Iwappara Official snow depth: 85cm Night skiing until 7:00pm The lower area is closed Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 120cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 115cm Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 150cm (top), 40cm (lower) Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 40cm (base) Naeba Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 50cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 100cm Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 30cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 80cm Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Tuesday 27th February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 534cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 37 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 77cm reported on 11 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this seas 536cm Posted on Wednesday 28th February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Yesterday there was a lot of cloud around for the most part, snowing lightly at times, quite windy, and even a bit of blue sky and sun at times in the afternoon. I'm reporting 2cm this morning (since the last report yesterday morning), but there is no cm of fresh snow to be seen on our measuring point at 8am this morning. Kagura is actually reporting 20cm of fresh snow but unfortunately wind is still an issue up there and it is only open up to the Number 1 pair lift at the start of the day. Very good to hear about the snow, though! And Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 5-10cm of snowfall since yesterday. So it does sound like higher runs have enjoyed another layer of snow. The lower runs at the Main Entrance section of Ishiuchi Maruyama are going to be closed today and tomorrow as they move snow around and cover some patches. ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 150cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 90cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Iwappara Official snow depth: 85cm Night skiing until 7:00pm The lower areas are now closed Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 130cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 115cm Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 150cm (top), 40cm (lower) Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 40cm (base) Naeba Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 50cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 100cm Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 120cm (top), 40cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 90cm Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Wednesday 28th February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 536cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 38 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 79cm reported on 12 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 23cm Snowfall at base this seas 559cm Posted on Saturday 2nd March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Good morning from Yuzawa. And a very good morning it is! We have fresh snow, and a decent amount of it too... around town too. Actually, there's a very mid-winter like scene outside just now. Snow falling very nicely, 20+cm of fresh, nice and cold... Our Yuzawa measurement of fresh snowfall at 8am is 23cm and our measurement to the north of Ishiuchi is 18cm. Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 20-30cm of fresh snow on the mountain and Yuzawa Kogen is also mentioning 30cm. Kagura is mentioning... Tashiro Area being closed today, as well as the Number 1 quad and Number 5 pair lift on hold. I'd love to know how much snow they got up there, but they're not saying. (They are keen to let us know about some free soup that will be served at Tashiro Ropeway from 2pm tomorrow. Important information!) There are a few events going on around town this evening, including some yummy street food (station east exit) and a 'project mapping and light event' on the lower slopes of Yuzawa Kogen (what used to be known as Nunoba, close to Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway). There will be fireworks too. Like I said, kind of feels like mid-winter this morning. The fresh snow is very, very welcome and let's hope we can get more. There is more snow due across the next few days. This 'almost normal' kind of feeling is a good one. :) ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 150cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 100cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Iwappara Official snow depth: 85cm Night skiing until 8:00pm The lower areas are now closed Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 140cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 125cm Night skiing until 2:00am tomorrow morning Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 160cm (top), 40cm (lower) Night skiing until 8:00pm Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 200cm (top), 55cm (base) Naeba Official snow depth: 110cm (top), 50cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 100cm Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 130cm (top), 40cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 90cm Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Saturday 2nd March 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 559cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 39 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 79cm reported on 12 days March 2024 snowfall 23cm reported on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. It was great to get that snow yesterday and there was more of it during the morning. (Though, true to the patterns this season, it didn't continue for as long as we would have liked!) We got some blue sky and glimpses of the sun at times in the afternoon, even if it remained largely cloudy. This morning started with lovely clear blue skies. It was quite windy early on but not so much as ski lifts started to move. Approaching 10am, there is some cloud starting to form and forecasts do say it will cloud over and we might be treated to more snow tonight and into tomorrow. That sounds good. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this seas 579cm Posted on Monday 4th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Yesterday ended up fairly mild, with clouds gradually forming from the morning and leaving us with cloudy cover again later in the afternoon. (There was some rain in the evening, but) this morning we have more fresh snow on the ground! Both Kagura and Maiko are reporting 15cm of it. Feels like there is probably more than that in higher areas. Our Yuzawa measurement as if 8:00am is also 15cm and it is still snowing. :) It has been a good start to March and it doesn't look like the fresh snow deliveries are done yet with more still on forecasts. This time last week some ski areas were worrying about how long they might be able to remain open. This kind of start to March did not seem likely. But this fresh snow means that they might be able to open as long as they originally planned... or at least closer to that date. The 'planned closing dates' of ski areas in the region will be added to the below list later on today. ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 170cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 130cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Iwappara Official snow depth: 80cm Night skiing until 7:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 150cm (top) Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 (Tashiro Area) Planned closing date: Sunday 19th May 2024 (Kagura Area via Mitsumata) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 135cm Planned closing date: Sunday 21st April 2024 Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 170cm (top), 40cm (lower) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 200cm (top), 60cm (base) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Naeba Official snow depth: 120cm (top), 60cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 105cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 130cm (top), 40cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 90cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Monday 4th March 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 579cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 41 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 79cm reported on 12 days March 2024 snowfall 43cm reported on 3 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. It's a cloudy start to the day and that is pretty much what is expected for the day. There is still quite a bit of low cloud/fog around in places and currently just under +1C in town. Kagura reports 10cm of fresh snow since yesterday and Maiko reports 5cm. While it has almost gone now, we measured another 4cm during yesterday. Tonight and into tomorrow we're due more precipitation. That might well start as rain in town (again), but hopefully it will be straight to snow in higher elevations. Difficult to know how much to expect out of it. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. There was lots of cloud and fog in places through the day yesterday, with some rain/sleet/snow later on. Just a dusting in places really overnight (already gone on the roads), though Maiko is reporting 1-5cm of fresh snow on the slopes. (No snowfall numbers to report from Kagura, or other ski areas, as of 8am). Another grey start to the day with sleet/snow at times on forecasts and then maybe some sunshine during the day tomorrow. Later on Friday and Saturday is looking very interesting. The chance of heavy snow? We'll have some of that, please! ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 200cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 150cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Iwappara Official snow depth: 80cm Night skiing until 7:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 160cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 (Tashiro Area) Planned closing date: Sunday 19th May 2024 (Kagura Area via Mitsumata) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 140cm Planned closing date: Sunday 21st April 2024 Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 170cm (top), 40cm (lower) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 200cm (top), 60cm (base) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Naeba Official snow depth: 120cm (top), 60cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 115cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 130cm (top), 40cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 90cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Wednesday 6th March 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 584cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 43 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 79cm reported on 12 days March 2024 snowfall 48cm reported on 5 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. - Yuzawa Now: Thursday 7th March 2024
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this seas 585cm Posted on Thursday 7th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. It was snowing nicely up at Kagura at times yesterday. Unfortunately, they're not saying how much they got, so the only number I can report is the 1-3cm from Maiko. Not much more than dusting(s) around town since yesterday morning. This morning there is a lot of cloud around and foggy conditions too, though forecasts indicate that we might be treated to some clearer skies and sun later this morning. In fact, there is already some blue sky to see just north of Yuzawa. We are still due snow around Saturday and potentially a decent amount of it too. ---------------------------- GALA Yuzawa Official snow depth: 180cm The Northern Area connection with Ishiuchi Maruyama is available The Southern Area connection with Yuzawa Kogen is available The downhill Falcon course is closed Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 Ishiuchi Maruyama Official snow depth: 150cm (mid) The connection with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Night skiing until 8:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Iwappara Official snow depth: 80cm Night skiing until 7:00pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Joetsu Kokusai Official snow depth: 160cm (top) Night skiing until 8:30pm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Kagura Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 130cm (base) Planned closing date: Monday 6th May 2024 (Tashiro Area) Planned closing date: Sunday 19th May 2024 (Kagura Area via Mitsumata) Kandatsu Snow Resort Official snow depth: 145cm Planned closing date: Sunday 21st April 2024 Maiko Snow Resort Official snow depth: 170cm (top), 40cm (lower) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Muikamachi Hakkaisan Official snow depth: 180cm (top), 80cm (base) Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Naeba Official snow depth: 120cm (top), 60cm (base) Night skiing until 8:30pm Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 See our Naeba Now report NASPA Ski Garden Official snow depth: 110cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Kogen Official snow depth: 130cm (top), 40cm (base) The connection with the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is available Planned closing date: Sunday 7th April 2024 Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort Official snow depth: 95cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Park Official snow depth: 90cm Planned closing date: Sunday 31st March 2024 Yuzawa Now 2023-2024 season Data as of Thursday 7th March 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 585cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 44 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 55cm (23rd December) November 2023 snowfall 14cm reported on 2 days December 2023 snowfall 137cm reported on 9 days January 2024 snowfall 306cm reported on 15 days February 2024 snowfall 79cm reported on 12 days March 2024 snowfall 49cm reported on 6 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Yuzawa. - Yuzawa Now: Sunday 10th March 2024
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata New snowfall at base 32cm Snowfall at base this seas 638cm Posted on Sunday 10th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. The exciting flashback to mid-winter conditions continues. At our measuring point, since the report yesterday morning (including a clearing yesterday evening), there has been a total of 32cm. That is one of the biggest falls in a day of the season... and it is still snowing. Here's how much new snowfall the ski areas are reporting this morning: Maiko Snow Resort: 25cm (since last night) Yuzawa Kogen: 20-30cm (I would be great to know how much there is up at Kagura...) OK so, yes, it is still snowing at 8:30am, though it will probably ease off sometime during the day. (Forecasts vary on the timing). Tomorrow is forecast to be sunny in the morning and so it should be an excellent Monday morning! Some ski area news: The Falcon downhill course at GALA Yuzawa is back open.
