We had rain later in the day yesterday but overnight it turned into snow and there was a thin coating of snow in Yuzawa this morning. Resorts around town have reporting mostly around 5cm but up to 10cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday. It has actually continued snowing at town level on and off for the morning though it's not really adding more in terms of cm. Fairly poor visibility at resorts around town at the moment.
It was actually quite sunny down in the Naeba and Kagura areas with a fair bit of blue sky on show as well, though seems that it has clouded over there too.
The snow is forecast to ease off and leave us with a cloudy day and not warm up too much. Tomorrow should start off sunny and it will get warmer once again and aside from rain on Thursday the coming week looks mostly cloud/sun.
OK, so it's that time of the year to report planned resort closing dates. Here's what we have so far confirmed, will add to this as we get more info...
Resorts in Yuzawa:
Iwappara - until 7th April
Naeba - until 7th April
NASPA Ski Garden - until 7th April
Kandatsu Kogen - until 14th April (and then weekends until Golden Week in early May)
GALA Yuzawa - until 6th May
Kagura (Tashiro) - until 6th May
Kagura (Mitsumata) - until 26th May
Resorts in Minamiuonuma:
Itsukamachi - until 29th March
The legendary Mt Granview - until 31st March (just weekends)
Chateaux Shiozawa - until 31st March
Maiko Snow Resort - until 31st March (and then 6/7th April and 13/14th April)
Muikamachi Hakkaisan - until 31st March
Muikamachi Ski Resort - until 31st March
Ishiuchi Maruyama - until 7th April
Joetsu Kokusai - until 7th April
Of course, all will be subject to snow conditions and may change.
