There has been a bit of a break in the clouds this morning, and even some sun in places, but it's also still snowing in places. Including here in Hasuike as I write this, just light snow. The peak of this particular bunch of snow has seemingly passed. So even if it continues snow today I wouldn't expect much. And beyond today, perhaps we will get some clearer skis and sun. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Hello from Shiga Kogen. A lot more snow folks as the peak mid winter season conditions continue. I'd say that there is going to be 30-50cm across the region since yesterday. Kumanoyu are reporting 20cm. A friend of mine is saying more than 50cm. Wind has been a factor this last 24 hours so there are going to be variations. My own measurement is 25cm. The snow is forecast to continue today and into tomorrow. Beyond that... some sun. What a season we are having. I have now reported well over 10m of snowfall this season. That is more than any other season since these particular records started in 2012-2013. There are quite a few lifts not opening too, due to the conditions, so if you are here and insist on venturing out in this, I highly recommend checking with official sources. Perhaps the peak intensity of this storm has passed but snow is likely to continue through Wednesday. Kumanoyu reporting 50cm of fresh snowfall. I just measured 45cm and I'd expect more on the mountain. Wind has been blowing it around too making it one of those days that are difficult to pin down. I'd call it lightly for the moment but more snow is expected today and get heavier as the day goes on and overnight into tomorrow. There's a few days of potentially solid snowfall coming in the next few days. Tomorrow might see some stronger winds blowing around too, so we'll have to keep an eye on that. Right now kind of limited visibility in places, but not too bad. Probably best to enjoy this calmer picture before this storm rolls in. These conditions are preventing some lifts from opening. Super care needed out there. Kumanoyu are reporting 20-30cm. This snow isn't actually expected to continue for too long during the day today and tomorrow should also be a break from the snow, but there's more potentially heavy snow on the forecasts for later Sunday through around Tuesday. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Early morning today it's kind of bright but limited visibility and light to moderate snow falling from the skies. There's not much fresh on the ground yet but the weekly forecast is looking pretty good for some potentially heavy (at times) snowfall. Look to quite a bit overnight tonight and then again around Sunday into the first part of next week. A good snowy last part of February would be great. The more snow the better to help some of the lifts remain open through the end of May!
