That's what forecasts say, with clear skies from the start tomorrow and Sunday. There's not a whole lot to report this morning. Just 15cm of snowfall observed (at base by me) during the month of March... definitely on the low side. Our base snowfall total for the season is going to be 829cm. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 20cm Posted on Wednesday 12th November 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Howdy Skiers and Boarders, We had a leeeeetle snow yesterday, nothing to really stick at the base, but on top might hang around. Basically, it was just priming the pump, making sure the 'ol storm system works. Good news, it does. Had my first real winter driving last night, getting used to the car moving all over the place. As usual, people were flying off into the ditches. EZ does it in the early season...by the end of the season I'm flying down the road at 80+ (allegedly) without a care in the world. Just a quick note that my day job requires me to be out of town until Nov 21, so no preseason reports until then. Hopefully when I return, there will be some white stuff on the ground and we'll be only 8 days out from Opening Day, so I'll catch up with you then. Think snow. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 1133cm Posted on Friday 8th April 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. A cloudy start this morning. No cm of snow is being reported by the ski area up top. (I was down and out from yesterday afternoon, booster shot weariness, so I don't know what was happening outside from then until this morning). Anyhow what looks certain is a warm, clear, calm and sunny weekend.... and probably beyond the weekend too. Poka-poka! More lifts will be open for the weekend too - see the list below. Lower slopes are still pretty much covered with snow in the second week of April, even the Karasawa and Nagasaka areas. The snow may be looking a bit... dirty... but, remarkable! :) With the consistent warmth coming up, I would expect some big patches of ground to start appearing soon; and once they start appearing, the rest quickly seems to go. Upper areas are still reporting up to 270cm snow depth, so that lot is going to stick around for quite some time yet. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . What looks like some fog up on the top areas early this morning - visibility looks very low. That will probably improve as we do have cloud/sun forecast for the day and a high temp around mid-teens. Cloud, maybe some sun and maybe a spell of light rain is currently lined up for tomorrow. I am not going to be able to post a report tomorrow, so the next report will be on Sunday. The ski area remains part open. You can still ski/board from top to base. From the top Yamabiko area, come down the mountain via Uenotaira and Paradise. A shuttle bus is available from the exit of Rinkan course back to Nagasaka. Lower runs near base are looking varying degrees of patchy now as the remaining snow quickly melts away. You can ride the Gondola back down if you want to avoid the lower runs. Snow cover on higher areas remains very good. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Today marks the start of Golden Week! That means that it's the last 10 days of the season with more ski lifts and runs scheduled to be open. Details below. It's a cloudy start. Some dark grey clouds up there too and they are due to bring us some rain later on, perhaps from around lunchtime or early afternoon. The next few days looks changeable with more settled weather due from Tuesday onwards. Snow cover on the open runs higher on the mountain remains good and they will surely manage to remain open until the planned last day on 8th May. It will be interesting to see how much snow will be there in 10 days time. Apart from a few mounds of piled-up snow, the base Hikage is now looking almost totally bare and Nagasaka is bare. - Nozawa Now: Sunday 8th May 2022
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 1133cm Posted on Sunday 8th May 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello from Nozawa Onsen on this last day of the 2021-2022 ski season. We are starting the day with sunshine - it's a good way to end the season. It might be 8th May, but the ski area could probably stay open even longer as there's still enough snow up on the top areas. But today is going to be the last day. And what a season it was. I have been able to report 1133cm of snowfall - and that is just here at base. Add a fair chunk to that for the snow higher up. Tons of it! Looking back at the data on the Snowfall analysis page (link above and here), 1133cm is actually the most I have reported in any season. It is over double the amount in the 2019-2020 season. Impressive. Let's have about that much snow every season, hey? Naski, our fave bright green skiing vegetable (mascot character) is most definitely very pleased. All we need now is open borders and world peace! Seriously, I hope to see many friends from overseas here next season. Fingers crossed. And that's all I have for this season. My reports remain available along with all the other data based on the numbers I post each day, so you can read them any time. I thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed following the season. I'll be back in November.
