After the rain of yesterday - unfortunately it was persistent for most of the day - it's very good to see some fresh snow on the ground this morning.

Yesterday turned into a fine day with sunshine and bright skies - though not the blue contrast that we had the previous day.

The snow continued falling through the day yesterday into the evening, continuing to build up very nicely. With a few more cm this morning, it gives me a total of 24cm to report today.

Let's quickly look at how much snowfall we have observed at our measuring place.

There was another 16cm of fresh snowfall during the day yesterday, and there is an additional 11cm on the ground this morning - making 27cm for my report this morning.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and the popular ski resorts were indeed extremely popular by all accounts - it was going to be the case after all that snow last week, and of course being a Sunday in peak season.

After some rather odd weather through Niigata Prefecture yesterday - ranging from thunder and lightning, snow, wind, sleet, rain (*not in Yuzawa)... and a bit of sun - it is much more settled in the region this morning.

And after a mild day yesterday the snow is back this morning.

The remaining clouds cleared leaving us with beautiful blue skies over the region yesterday morning.

Once again, snow continued falling through pretty much all of the day yesterday, though for the most part it wasn’t as full on as the snowfall over the weekend and so much smaller numbers.

The headlines this morning: snow clouds remain the region and there's more fresh snow to report.
