After the rain of yesterday - unfortunately it was persistent for most of the day - it's very good to see some fresh snow on the ground this morning.
Varying amounts are being reported this morning from the resorts:
Kagura: 40-50cm
Maiko Snow Resort: 30-40cm
We are measuring 19cm of fresh snow on the ground in Yuzawa and 14cm just to the north in Minamiuonuma. So there's a decent new layer, especially at higher elevations.
Early morning light snow is easing off and should leave us with a generally cloudy day. Perhaps even some clearing conditions.
It looks like early on some of Kagura is affected by strong winds with the Number 1, 4 and 5 lifts on standby waiting for conditions to calm down. The course connecting Tashiro with Kagura is also on standby.
All other resorts appear to be opening as planned this morning.
