Good morning from Nozawa and an early report this morning because....well, I want to get up there early!

Good morning from Nozawa and it's keeping really cold at the moment.

After a clearer start earlier on, snow has started to fall this morning and it's really coming down now as I write this at 9am.

Snow was falling up on the mountain yesterday and since yesterday morning the resort has reported up to 18cm up there.

Morning from Nozawa and just a few cm down here at base really with the resort reporting 3-7cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday.

New snowfall to report - up to 35cm of it on the upper slopes reported by the resort since yesterday morning - less wind and more of the mountain open.

Morning from Nozawa where the storm has hit - wind in particular, meaning that the upper areas of the mountain are this morning closed as I write this report.

We did get some snowfall yesterday with the resort yesterday afternoon reporting 3-5cm across the mountain.

Light snowfall this morning with the resort reporting 5cm across the mountain since yesterday.

It was great to see 'proper' snowfall during the day yesterday at times.

There may be a few more hangovers than normal this morning after the events of last night so a good morning to get early lifts up.

The snowfall was somewhat disappointing yesterday with not a whole lot to show for it.

There's a lot of cloud up there but also some blue sky and the appearing at times too making for some dramatic scenery at times. It's keeping nice and cold too.

Yesterday things got a bit on the wet side in the region, but this morning there is fresh snow on the ground.
