Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 206cm

Posted on Wednesday 11th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

The fog is presently down low - upper Uwanodai, Sunset, Nakamori, Yokokura, Hyakymannin. (See pic of upper Sunset.)

Higher up viz quality comes and goes but most of the time you can see the terrain in front.

Slopes are well-groomed with a soft upper layer. Some areas have a bit of a crunch but the upper layer dampens it. A great day for carving.

The fog should clear later in the day so do the lower areas first.
