Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 32cm
Snowfall at base this seas 803cm

Posted on Saturday 8th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Continuing the pattern of the last few days, the morning snow eased off by mid-morning yesterday, but it was snowing again from night and into this morning.

Since yesterday there has been a total of another 32cm of snowfall as of 8am. (Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 40cm).

It is a cold, snowy and windy morning.

Today might not see the break in the snow during the daytime and it is still forecast to continue until at least Monday and possibly even Tuesday.

All areas of Kagura are completely closed today due to the weather conditions and only the base area of Naeba (in front of the hotel) is open.

GALA Yuzawa is open, though the Southern Area remains unavailable.

The Ropeway at Yuzawa Kogen is set to open, perhaps delayed, but the top lift might not be running.

The gondola and top Okusoechi pair lift are not opening as planned this morning.

Other ski lift delays are possible/likely.

Pretty wild conditions out there at the moment and appropriate care should be taken if you venture out.
