Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this seas 771cm

Posted on Friday 7th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from a cold and snowy Yuzawa.

Yesterday we had a lull in the snowfall once again during the daytime, with snow starting up again at night.

14cm more in total since the last report, and over 20cm just to the north in Minamiuonuma. The last 24 hours seems to be one of those times when there is more snow falling north of Yuzawa than here in our town.

Having said that, at 8:30am is snowing moderately, and we still expect it to continue through the weekend and possibly into Monday with heavy snow due tonight.

Generally poor visibility this morning. Super care required in these conditions.

The Kagura top lift and Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa are again closed today due to the snow/weather conditions. Other lifts may well be affected, so check before heading out.
