Good morning from Yuzawa.

Two ski areas in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma region remain open. GALA Yuzawa and Kagura.

What about this then? Fresh snow!

Let's rewind a bit.

Yesterday, Gala was reporting a 20cm increase in snow depth. There hadn't been 20cm of fresh snowfall, of course, but it turns out it wasn't a typo. Rather, they had been busy moving snow from the (now closed) Northern Area to try and extend the season as much as possible on the (still open) Central Area runs.

Back to this morning. While we were getting rained on in town yesterday, higher areas seem to have received some fresh snow overnight. Not much, but it's enough to give the slopes at Gala a fresher look at the beginning of the day and you can see some white on the roof of the quad lifts building and snow escalator thingy.

I'd love to be able to tell you how much - just a thin dusting or some cm? - but neither of the two ski areas are saying anything early this morning. And the Kagura webcam isn't working.

Actually, let me update that as I am about to publish this report: Kagura, on Facebook, has just said there was 3cm of fresh snow. (Please do that every day throughout the winter season). They are also saying that Kagura is only open up to the Kagura Number 1 romance lift due to 'strong winds'.

I really wish I was able to go and check this morning. :(

All snow is precious and most welcome!

There has been a lot of cloud around early morning, but it has been getting less and the skies area gradually clearing. We might end up with blue skies and sunshine.

More sun tomorrow and getting a bit warmer again.
