Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1243cm

Posted on Friday 4th April 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Well, the grey and rather miserable weather down in town continues this morning.

Kagura is this morning reporting 3cm of snow up top and it looks like there might have been a slight dusting of snow on the top of the quad lift building at GALA (photo below).

Happily, the rain in town is due to ease off by lunchtime and we should be getting some relief from tomorrow.

The forecast clearer skies and sunshine (for tomorrow) will be very welcome, and local forecasts predict that to be the dominant weather until at least mid-week.

It will be getting warmer too, though not drastically so. It has been strangely cold for early April so far. (That would be great if we were getting snowed on, not so great when it is raining).

Sunday is the last day of the ski season for the following ski areas:

Ishiuchi Maruyama (Minamiuonuma)

Joetsu Kokusai (Minamiuonuma)

Naeba (Yuzawa)

Nakazato Snow Wood (Yuzawa)

NASPA Ski Garden (Yuzawa)

Yuzawa Kogen (Yuzawa)

From Monday, just three ski areas will be open:

GALA Yuzawa

Kagura

Kandatsu Snow Resort
