Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 35cm
Snowfall at base this seas 232cm

Posted on Saturday 3rd January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

I'm very happy to report some very good snowfall overnight.

After clearing some yesterday evening, I have just cleared another 32cm of snow. Total 35cm since my last report.

Excellent.

The only new snowfall info I can find from ski areas is 40cm from Kagura and 20-30cm being reported by Naeba. They don't do that every day. (A common moan on these reports dating back many years is the lack of this info each morning... I so wish they would make it a habit to say how much fresh snow has fallen each morning)

Anyway, it is still snowing with more due through today, so hopefully there might be another good number to report tomorrow.

This snowfall is really going to help and the official snow depths are starting to catch up now.

Forecasts indicate some sun tomorrow morning with more snow coming in on Monday.

Feeling positive!
