Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this seas 577cm

Posted on Sunday 26th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Changeable weather yesterday and overnight we have some snow. Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 5cm up top. Around 2-3cm of snow in places around town.

All fresh snow is always very welcome, but several cm is not enough for a proper reset, of course.

It is a cloudy morning with a chance of more light snow at times during the day today.

Variable visibility around town and the mountains this morning and there is a bit of a north-westerly wind.

There seems to be a problem with Mitsumata Ropeway this morning... and as of 8:30am they are not able to predict when it might be fixed and advising people to head over to Tashiro. Oh dear.

Someone asked about other planned Yuzawa Town firework displays planned for this season. Here you go:

1st February: Iwappara

22nd February: Kagura (Mitsumata)

1st March: Yuzawa Kogen

8th March: Kagura (Tashiro)

22nd March: Ipponsugi Snow Park

22nd March: Naeba
