Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this seas 883cm

Posted on Wednesday 25th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

A grey, cloudy/overcast morning with spots of rain and damp roads. We might have to put up with some rain on and off through the day.

It looks like the Takenokoyama pair lift at Naeba is going to be closed due to risk of avalanche.

Other than that, ski areas should be opening as planned this morning.

Tomorrow should be another fine and bright morning.

The mild period continues, warming up more than we would like particularly when the sun is out. (A high of around 7C is expected today).
