Good morning from Yuzawa.

A rare first-hand report from the slopes! Yes, I have just come back from a few hours at GALA Yuzawa. First tracks up there were actually really good, especially considering the uncooperative nature of the weather in the last run of days. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice. The snow was softening up as I ended my brief visit.

We started the day with clear blue skies, but it has been getting less blue with very thin cloud and... is hazy the right word? Still very bright and sunny.

The forecasts all say this afternoon will be cloudy with rain looming overnight and early morning. Doesn't look like even Kagura is expecting snow, so let's just hope for little or preferably no precipitation.

Beyond that, sun again on Thursday.

There are signs of snow for forecasts later next week. Let's keep an eye on that and hope we enjoy a good early March.

I just noticed Kagura is saying that the Number 5 pair lift there is going to be closed today. The reason given: staff shortage due to ill health.
