Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 19cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1175cm

Posted on Tuesday 25th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

11am update:

The early morning clouds did indeed clear, to leave us with lovely clear skies. The mountains look so beautiful this morning!

It is just under +3C in town at 11am.

Yuzawa Kogen is closed today as they see to some kind of electrical problem.

Original early report:

It has to be early report this morning (too early for news from ski areas).

Yesterday the snow continued for large parts of the day, though we did get a few spells of clearer skies and sun again in the afternoon.

Snowfall eased off overnight leaving us with another 19cm of snowfall since the report yesterday.

Today should be the start of a real break in the snowfall - to the relief of many! - with not much chance of snow (or much anyway) into next week. Perhaps some later tomorrow.

We are expecting some milder conditions as well this week, particularly around Friday and the weekend.

Early on this morning the skies are mostly cover by cloud, but the cloud is expected to part and leave us with sunny skies within a few hours.

Today it might get up to around 4 or 5C in town.
