Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1177cm

Posted on Thursday 27th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

We had some fine weather yesterday morning, even with some light snow falling at times especially higher up. Clouds took over later on and then we got some rain / sleet / snow. What you got depended on where you were.

We are still due some sun later on today, perhaps within a few hours, but we start the morning with cloudy skies and some light (wet) snow falling. There is a few cm to report, too.

Forecasts for tomorrow are rather mixed too at the moment, ranging from lovely clear skies to a more cloudy day.

Saturday still looks likely to be clear and sunny, along with some warm temperatures (perhaps getting up to and beyond 10C in town).

Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway and the top section of that ski area is back open today, and the top lift at Kagura is also due to be moving.

At the weekend it was looking like this week would be one of continued clear and skies every day but it isn't quite turning out that way. It seems the weather is proving hard to predict at the moment.

The Quest Park at GALA Yuzawa (located by the side of the quad lift in the Northern Area) is scheduled to open from Saturday 1st March.
