New snowfall at base 28cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1139cm
Posted on Sunday 23rd February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
It might not have been as intense, but we have still received another 28cm of snowfall since the last report yesterday morning. About 18cm of that arrived overnight.
That brings February 2025 observed snowfall at base up to 511cm - a new record for the month of February since we started recording data in these reports in 2012-2013.
The total snowfall for the season so far is now at 1149cm. The record so far is the 2021-2022 season when the total at the end of the season was 1338cm.
All of this data and much more detail here. (If you are going to quote our data elsewhere, please mention SnowJapan.com when doing so).
OK, so it is still snowing this morning. Just lightly at the moment. (Might it even stop?! At the moment it feels like it might never stop!)
It still looks like the snow madness will be over from Tuesday onwards, but we should expect some more snow before then. If forecasts are correct, probably on fairly modest amounts.
Forecasts all also show some nice sunny weather in the week starting from Tuesday along with much milder temperatures.
Here's the 'ski areas dealing with lots of snow' news for the morning, as far as we can tell as of 8am:
The Kagura Number 5 top lift will be closed and other lifts might be delayed, but otherwise Kagura looks set to open.
The Prince Number 1 gondola, Number 8 quad and Takenokoyama top lift at Naeba are closed.
The downhill run at Yuzawa Kogen will not be available.
The quad lift and upper pair lift on the hotel side at NASPA will be closed until Friday (28th).
