Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 11cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1111cm

Posted on Saturday 22nd February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

The snowfall was generally less intense yesterday with an additional 11cm to report (only a sprinkling overnight).

It is now snowing at the moment, but probably will be before long. Indeed the day started off with some light blue skies, but we have cloud cover now.

GALA Yuzawa is due to be back open this morning, though the Southern Area will not be opening. Yesterday was the first time ever that they decided not to open due to the amount of snow!

Kagura should also be open but the top Kagura Number 5 romance pair lift will be closed and other lifts might be delayed.

Maiko Snow Resort is also experiencing some early morning delays.

Other ski areas seem to be planning on opening with perhaps some delays and changes to operations. As always, check before heading out.

Snow clouds might still be giving us fresh snow through until Monday. And then clear skies due from Tuesday.

This weekend is usually another busy one as Monday is a national holiday. It will be interesting to see if places are particularly busy, or if the heavy snow (and associated issues) has put some people off...
