Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this seas 385cm
Posted on Saturday 21st January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
It is really good to see some fresh snow on the ground this morning.
Once again, it feels like it is not as much as we were told to expect around town, but Kagura are reporting a very respectable 30cm. So that sounds like a decent refresh.
The only other ski area reporting on snow numbers this morning is Maiko Snow Resort with 10cm.
We have measured 12cm here in Yuzawa and 5-6cm just to the north in the Ishiuchi area of Minamiuonuma.
It is continuing to snow lightly at the moment, but there have also been moments of clearing skies this morning in places. We are due at least light snow for the day.
There is also some windy conditions on the mountains this morning and the Kagura and Tashiro Areas of the Kagura resort are both closed (and the Dragondola is also on hold). Other ski areas seem to be opening as planned, though there is the potential for some wind-related disruptions.
The Quest Park in the Northen Area of GALA Yuzawa is opening from today.
