Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this seas 390cm

Posted on Sunday 22nd January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Yesterday, light snow (and sometimes a bit heavier) persisted for quite a lot of the day, even if it didn't amount to a huge amount in terms of new cm. This morning Kagura are reporting 3cm, would have thought there was more than that since yesterday morning.

The 5cm reported in this report is post-report yesterday and in the evening. There has been no more overnight.

It is bright and sunny this morning, but there is also a fair amount of thin cloud about and there are clearer skies in some directions.

Forecasts are still shaping up and looking good for heavy snow around Tuesday and Wednesday. We can expect some very cold conditions and possibly very windy conditions as well, particularly on Wednesday. While we could do without the wind, a good old Yuzawa-like snow storm sounds very exciting. Don't let us down!

In the meantime, it's a fine morning with good cold temperatures out there.
