As my Myoko friend said yesterday... 'furi-sugi' (too much snow)!
I can't remember there ever being as much snow piled up in my garden as there is right now. It's getting to be pretty ridiculous and there is now probably above 4 metres in some places.
And, of course, this unusually heavy snowfall is affecting peoples lives in many ways. At the moment, it feels more like 'survival' than thinking about skiing.
The ski areas are troubled too... I think it's fair to say that they all now very much want it to stop!
At 5pm yesterday there was 35cm of fresh snow at our point and this morning there is another 27cm. That's another 62cm over the last 24 hours. Crazy. Nice and light snow, too.
It's not over yet, either. We are likely to get more snow through until around Monday. Hopefully less of it.
It is still snowing this morning and currently about -3C in town.
As for ski areas...
Kagura (all areas) will be closed once again.
GALA are trying to open the Central and Northern Areas, but saying that there may be delays. Yuzawa Kogen plans to open from 9:00am and Ishiuchi Maruyama is saying that it will open from 9:30am.
Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 40-60cm fresh snow and that they plan to open but will be delayed.
There will very likely be other delays.
Check before heading out and be super careful if you do actually head out.
These are serious conditions.

At times like this, we perhaps always should try to remember the times when it isn't snowing a lot and we are praying/dancing for more.
Maybe try not to say 'too much'... even if it is!
