Posted on Saturday 18th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
9:30am update:
The sun is out with increasingly blue skies! It is quickly turning into a beautiful morning.
Original report:
There has been another 10cm of snowfall since the report yesterday morning and we can probably expect more than that at higher elevations.
Light snow is still falling in places, especially north of Yuzawa. That is expected to ease off, leaving us with a cloudy morning and sun later on in the afternoon. Sometimes on days like this the sun appears sooner than forecasts would have us believe, and that might be the case today too.
Today should keep quite cold, even if the sun comes out.
Tomorrow looks more likely to be clear and sunny from early on in the day... but mild too (up to +5C and perhaps higher in town).
Good news for the 'Yuzawa Snow Link' connections this morning. The Landau Ropeway connecting the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa with Yuzawa Kogen will be open from this morning. The other ski area in the Yuzawa Snow Link arrangement is Ishiuchi Maruyama, which is connected to at the top with the Northern Area of GALA Yuzawa. A special ticket is required to freely ski between those 3 ski areas.
Kagura is saying that some lifts might be delayed opening this morning (dealing with snow).
Other than that, other ski areas should be opening as planned this morning.
It's peak season period now. It will probably be a busy weekend. Have fun and take care out there.
