Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this seas 864cm

Posted on Sunday 15th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Cloud gathered as the day progressed yesterday, but it remained fairly bright and sunny until late afternoon. The Japan Meteorological Agency recorded a temperature of 9.8C at 1pm.

We start this morning with clear blue skies and that is what we expect for the day; along with town warming up to around 12C.

This weekend is definitely our first taste of 'spring' this season; and a fair amount of snow will have melted away by the end of today.

As much fun as it may be, thankfully tomorrow will be colder, with forecasts ranging from rain to sleet to snow; the higher up you are the better chance of the snowy goodness, of course.

Beyond that, later on Wednesday is the best chance for some more snow, but there's not whole lot of snow lined up on forecasts unfortunately. For now, anyway.

Have a good Sunday.
