Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this seas 920cm

Posted on Saturday 15th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

The 1cm of snow in the report today is from yesterday evening, when it was snowing (actually raining in some places) for a short while. There is not much wind at all and it is rather mild (3.5C in town at 11am).

It has been a fine morning since early on. There was more cloud around then, but it has turned into a clear and sunny day with blue skies.

The mountains are looking amazing and there seem to be a lot of people around coming to enjoy the fine weather after all the recent snow.

The Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa has re-opened this morning, along with the Ropeway connection between GALA and Yuzawa Kogen. There should have been a lot of untouched snow over there this morning!

All other ski areas are open as planned.

Tomorrow will also be very mild and might also start off with clear skies but cloud over later in the day.

And then we should be back to colder conditions and the start of another few days of snowfall from sometime on Monday.
