Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this seas 864cm

Posted on Friday 13th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Morning from Yuzawa.

1-2cm of (wet) snow again after a generally fine and sunny day yesterday.

I'm hearing of various snow conditions yesterday after the rain/slush/snow we got the previous day - generally, it seems to have been a case of better (and actually quite good) snow at higher elevations... as you might expect. As I noted in an update to the report yesterday morning, the lift staff at GALA Yuzawa were saying there was as much as 15cm of fresh snow up there. Hopefully higher elevations might have again received a bit more

Early morning we start with largely overcast/cloudy kind of skies, but we expect some more sunshine during the day. So they may clear fairly quickly.

Tomorrow and Sunday are still both expected to be unseasonably mild with generally sunny skies.

Feel-good, for sure! (Less great when considering snow).
