New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this seas 862cm
Posted on Thursday 12th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Yesterday evening I went out for a walk with an umbrella. It was quite weird. Was it snowing or raining? Sleet didn't feel like the right word. After 5 minutes, the umbrella was really heavy with what can perhaps best be described as a layer of... slush.
So, I think it was... slushing?!
Hopefully it was snowing at higher elevations!
Enough of that and on to today.
We start with quite a lot of cloud to the north but it's quite bright and clearer over Yuzawa. Looks like the next 3 or 4 days will generally be clearer and warming up as we head into the weekend. Let's hope the temps don't get too high (and they shouldn't today, at least).
Hopefully we can get back to colder conditions and snow next week.
The ski area list is posted below but I am too early this morning to bring you updates from most ski areas.
Update: a friend up at GALA Yuzawa this morning just told me that the lift staff there were saying there was 15cm of fresh snow. Nice --- definitely sounds much better than slushing!
