OK so we did get some rain yesterday, quite heavy at times too. Actually a bit surprised to notice last night how much some of the snow walls around town had got smaller over the last few days. But we can quickly look past that as the snow is back... but so is wind.
First of all, 22cm of fresh snowfall measured and here's what the ski areas are reporting:
Maiko: 30-50cm
Kagura: 30cm
Ishiuchi: 20cm
Blowing winds mean that GALA Yuzawa is closed and only the Mitsumata Area of Kagura will be open today. The top areas of Maiko and Yuzawa Kogen are also closed, and part of Naeba is also affected. Other lifts at other ski areas might be affected.
Lots of people will probably decide to sit this day out, as it's not very friendly out there. The snow - heavy at times - is set to continue through the day after tomorrow. Hopefully the wind might get more manageable...
