Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 1221cm
Posted on Tuesday 10th March 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Let's get down to it...
Rain overnight here at town level turning into sleet and snow early morning.
On the ground there has been perhaps up to a few cm in places - just a dusting on my car - with Maiko Snow Resort reporting 5-10cm (presumably higher up) and Kagura also giving us the number of 20cm of fresh.
So some snow up on the mountains and hopefully that will be increasing during the day today.
Might well be borderline sleet/rain this morning (again here in town) as temperatures remain in low positive numbers, before settling into proper decent snowfall later on today and tomorrow - which looks like it should be the 'main event'.
Looks like Tashiro is closed and Kagura limited to the Mitsumata area only due to already stronger winds up there. Winds expected to get stronger as the day goes on, so expect possible disruptions there. GALA Yuzawa open from early on.
I'll leave it at that until tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!
