Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 42cm
Snowfall at base this season 647cm

Posted on Tuesday 18th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Morning from a mid-winter Shiga Kogen.

It's cold, it's windy and it's snowy.

Very early morning Yakebitaiyama was reporting 40cm of fresh and I am hearing reports of 30-70cm across the area. That biggest number coming from Okushiga Kogen. My measurement is 42cm.

Lots of snow again.

But some unfriendly weather conditions for the moment; conditions that are set to continue for perhaps a few more days to varying degrees.

Snow clouds are expected to be across the region right through the weekend and perhaps even into early week.
