Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 23cm
Snowfall at base this season 757cm

Posted on Wednesday 8th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

It's a very good morning as well.

Snow yesterday though it wasn't really the kind where the cm mounted up - but it got into another gear overnight and this morning there's 20-30cm of fresh snow being reported by the resort. Great to see a good fresh blanket of snow at base too, not just higher up.

We were expecting snow through the day today as well, but for the moment there's actually quite a bit of blue sky appearing and the sun is shining through my window now. Very bright.

That means that it should be an excellent morning here and I'm going to make my own way up to the top of the mountain as soon as this report is sent off.

Latest local forecasts seem to say the snow should be back falling by tomorrow.

Hope you can enjoy it.
